Uh Oh! Santa Monica’s Ocean Way Festival Washes Out

We just saw some bummer news. The Ocean Way Festival in Santa Monica is off. Like, totally canceled. And it’s all because of something called Hurricane Marie.
This hurricane really messed with the beach. It caused a lot of erosion. The organizers said the festival “can no longer be safely held as planned.” Sounds pretty serious.
This was supposed to be a big deal! Two whole days of music. Headliners like The Killers and Olivia Dean. Plus Jack White, Sublime, Alvvays, Khruangbin, Durand Jones & The Indications, and Hiatus Kaiyote. Imagine the energy! The whole vibe was going to be so electric, with the ocean as a backdrop.
It’s a shame. We were looking forward to the colorful beach scenes and the sounds filling the air. The aesthetic of a seaside festival is always so appealing, you know?
Now, instead of music, we’ve got sand where the stages should be. A stark visual contrast.

Nature can be pretty wild, right? We get it. Safety first, always. But man, what a bummer for everyone who bought tickets and for the artists. We hope they can reschedule somewhere else soon. Maybe next year it’ll be smooth sailing… and smooth sand!
