Vignesh Shivan Thinks His Movie LIK Deserved More Love From Fans

Director Vignesh Shivan looking thoughtful during an interview about his film.
  • Vignesh Shivan’s honest feelings about his new film.
  • The bright, neon aesthetic of Love Insurance Kompany.
  • Why being an artist can be really tough sometimes.

We just saw a really honest post from Vignesh Shivan. He is the creative mind behind the movie Love Insurance Kompany. He recently spoke out about how the film was received. He feels the audience should have been more generous.

It hurts. Seeing your hard work get ignored is never easy. As art graduates, we totally get it. You pour your heart into something and hope people see the magic. But sometimes, the timing is just off.

The movie had such a cool vibe. Think bright neons and a very retro-future aesthetic. It was pure eye candy! Every frame looked like a colorful painting. It is a shame that more people didn’t go to the theaters to see those visuals on a big screen.

We know how it feels when a big moment doesn’t get the right attention. Like when Kailash Kher Rocked the IPL Closing Ceremony, but many fans were just looking at the movie stars in the stands! Sometimes the real art gets missed.

Vignesh says he wished for more kindness from the crowd. He isn’t giving up, though. He’s a fighter. Just like when John Oliver hilariously roasts fails, the world can be a tough critic. But you have to keep creating anyway.

We hope his next project hits differently. Maybe it just needs a little more luck. Or a bigger wedding celebration like when Dua Lipa got married and the whole world stopped to watch!

Our Take

We think Vignesh has every right to feel this way. It is brave to ask for more love. The film was a visual treat, even if the story didn’t click with everyone. We need more directors who take risks with color and style. Don’t let the numbers get you down, Vignesh!
