TikTok’s policy for AI ads isn’t working

Okay, seriously, is anyone else totally confused by TikTok ads lately? 🤯 I’ve been trying to figure out if some of these commercials are actually AI-generated, and let me tell you, it’s HARD. Like, I spend a decent amount of time looking for those weird AI tells – you know, the uncanny valley vibes or the impossible anatomy? Well, some of the stuff popping up on my FYP has been giving me MAJOR side-eye for weeks now.

And it turns out, I’m not alone! Apparently, TikTok’s own policy about labeling AI ads is kinda… not working. The platform is supposed to make it super clear when ads are made with generative AI, but for a lot of us scrolling through, it’s a total mystery. So, what are we seeing? Real people, or some super-smart algorithm trying to sell us stuff? The lines are officially blurred, folks!
