  • What’s Inside: A longtime Pixar leader is moving on. A new president is taking the reins. A peek at what this means for your favorite animated movies.

Okay, so we just heard some pretty big news from Pixar, the folks who bring us all those amazing animated movies with such incredible colors and feelings. You know, the ones that make us laugh and cry?

After being there for a super long time, 21 years to be exact, Jim Morris is stepping down from his President role. He’s been at the helm for 12 of those years! He’s not leaving completely, though. He’ll be moving to a special position called President Emeritus. Think of it as a super-wise advisor role.

Taking over for him is Jonathan Garson. Jonathan is a Disney veteran too, with over 30 years under his belt. That’s a lot of experience!

This big change happens on January 4, 2027. So, still a little bit of time before the new chapter begins. And don’t worry, Pete Docter is still in charge of things like *Toy Story* and *Inside Out*. Phew!

Our Take

We’re always excited to see what Pixar creates. A change in leadership can bring fresh ideas and maybe even new visual styles, which we art lovers are always here for! We’re curious to see what Jonathan brings to the studio.
