Kiki’s Delivery Service is Getting Real! Live-Action Series On The Way!
- What’s the buzz about Kiki?
- Who’s making it happen?
- Why we’re excited (and maybe a little nervous!)
You guys! We just got news that has us absolutely *flying*!
Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’? You know, the one with the charming young witch, her black cat Jiji, and that trusty broomstick? It’s officially getting a live-action series! This isn’t just a whisper.
BBC Studios Kids & Family is teaming up with Wheel In Motion and Japan’s Kadokawa Corporation. Big names are involved. This is going to be a 10-episode series, with each episode clocking in at 30 minutes. That’s a lot of Kiki magic coming our way!
This is a HUGE deal. It’s the very first time Kiki’s story, which is based on the beloved Eiko Kadono books, is getting this kind of live-action treatment. We’re picturing the iconic visual of Kiki soaring through those bright, European-inspired skies. We just hope they capture that warm, gentle aesthetic perfectly. The colors, the magic, the feeling of independence – it all needs to shine through beautifully.
Speaking of big news, have you seen the buzz around Prime Video India’s ‘Alliance’ dropping soon? Or maybe you’re more into relationship drama, like Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO and that missing ring? There’s always something major happening!
We can’t wait to see who they cast as Kiki. And Jiji, of course! What do you think about a live-action version of this animated classic?
Our Take
We’re cautiously optimistic about this one. Studio Ghibli movies hold such a special place in our hearts, and ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’ is a true gem. We really hope the team respects the original magic and brings that unique blend of wonder and everyday charm to life. It’s a tall order, but we’re ready to believe!
