Jay Leno Thinks Late Night TV Is Dead (And He Might Be Right)
- Jay Leno says podcasts are the new talk shows
- Why Joe Rogan is the new Johnny Carson
- Some serious shade thrown at John Oliver
We just saw Jay Leno spill some major tea about the state of television. It has been twelve years since he left The Tonight Show. A lot has changed since then. The world looks different now.
Leno says the ‘king of late night’ isn’t even on TV anymore. He thinks podcasts have taken over everything. To him, Joe Rogan is the new Johnny Carson. That is a huge statement! We remember the old aesthetic of bright stage lights and sharp blue suits. Now? It is all about dark rooms and big headphones.
The vibe has shifted from polished to raw. Leno also had some words for John Oliver. He basically said Oliver doesn’t know what he is talking about. Ouch. While we process that, you should check out why Netflix canceled the Duffer Brothers’ new show. It is a total bummer.
Everything feels a bit upside down lately. Just look at the news about Jelly Roll’s hospital stay during his split. It is a lot to take in. But at least RDJ is giving us hope for the next Avengers movie!
Our Take
We miss the old-school magic of late night. There was a certain sparkle to those big desks and live bands. But we get it. Times change. People want real talk, not scripted jokes. Whether it is Joe Rogan or a TikTok star, the crown has definitely moved. We just hope the art of the interview doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
