We just finished watching Jagamae Sangeetham. It is Palnati Surya Pratap’s new web series about Carnatic music. Honestly? We have thoughts. Lots of them.
The show looks beautiful. The aesthetic is very moody. You see lots of deep yellows and warm stage lights. As art lovers, we really liked the vibe of the old music halls.
Prakash Raj is in it. He is amazing as usual. He brings a lot of heart to his character. But even a great actor cannot save a slow script. It just needed more spark.
The story felt a bit like a remake of Bandish Bandits. But it lacked the punch. It needed more weight and better writing to keep us hooked. We found ourselves looking at our phones too much.
The music is the best part. If you love classical songs, you will enjoy the sound. But if you want a tight story, this might not be for you. It felt a bit thin.

We think Jagamae Sangeetham is okay for a one-time watch. The music is nice. The colors are pretty. But the story lacks the oomph to be a real hit. It is a bit of a letdown.
