Why that big finale in We Are All Trying Here didn’t play out how we wanted
- The director explains the ending
- Why the leads didn’t save each other
- A deep dive into their character arcs
We just saw the director of We Are All Trying Here finally break his silence. Cha Young Hun chatted with Hindustan Times about the show’s ending. It left a lot of us feeling a bit hollow.
You probably noticed how Koo Kyo Hwan and Go Youn Jung didn’t end up being each other’s heroes. No rescue mission. No sudden saves.
The aesthetic of the show was so moody and soft. The muted blues and dusty sunlight made every scene feel like a painting. It was beautiful. But it was also lonely.
The director says it was done on purpose. He wanted them to learn to stand on their own two feet. Real life isn’t a fairy tale. Sometimes, you just have to fix yourself.
We know, we know. We wanted a different ending too! If you’re missing your favorite stories, check out these updates: Get Ready! Your Favorite Book is Becoming a Movie! or see if Love Island USA Producers are playing matchmaker off-camera. Also, here is some news on Daisy Edgar-Jones’s next film.
Our Take
Honestly? We love the director for sticking to his guns. It feels more authentic this way. We don’t always need a knight in shining armor, even if we really want one.
