Okay, so we just saw some HUGE news drop and we had to tell you guys immediately! Remember Gilderoy Lockhart, that famously vain wizard from the Harry Potter books and movies? The one with the dazzling smile and even more dazzling ego? Well, he’s making a comeback!
And guess who’s stepping into his wizarding shoes? It’s none other than Kit Harington! You know, Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. We’re picturing him with that signature brooding look, but now in a flamboyant wizard’s robe. Talk about a visual shift!
He’s replacing Nicholas Hoult, who was originally set to play Lockhart in HBO’s new Harry Potter series. This is for Season 2, so we’ll have to wait a bit to see Kit work his magic (or lack thereof) as the dubious Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.
We’re already imagining the aesthetic! Think polished, maybe a bit over-the-top for Lockhart, with a hint of that classic Kit Harington intensity. It’s going to be interesting to see how he brings that character to life. Will he nail the charm? The cluelessness? We’re on the edge of our seats!
Our Take
Honestly? We’re here for this! Kit Harington has that ability to play characters with a lot going on beneath the surface. Gilderoy Lockhart is all surface, but there’s a definite comedic goldmine there. We think Kit could be surprisingly brilliant in the role, adding a layer of something unexpected. Plus, seeing him ditch the fur cloak for something more… sequined? Yes, please.
