  • Insidious vs. Spider-Man: The Friday Fight!
  • Why a spooky movie stole the top spot.
  • Who will *really* win the weekend?

You won’t believe what just happened at the Friday box office! Our pals over at ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’ pulled a fast one. This creepy flick actually leapfrogged Marvel’s big hero, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ for the No. 1 spot on Friday.

That dark, eerie aesthetic clearly drew folks in, proving sometimes a good scare is just what people are looking for. It really set a different vibe compared to the usual superhero fanfare.

We know, right? Shocking! But don’t count out our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man just yet. Even though ‘Insidious’ took the Friday crown, experts are still betting on Spidey to swing back and win the whole weekend.

This is the fifth movie in the spooky ‘Insidious’ series, by the way. And it really pulled in the crowds on Friday, grossing a solid $10.6 million from over 3,303 theaters across North America. It just shows that sometimes a familiar story can still surprise you, much like how Leslie Mann spilled the tea on her almost 30-year marriage – long-running stories have their twists!

Our Take

We think this is just wild. It’s always fun to see an underdog (or in this case, an under-horror) movie shake things up. While Spider-Man might win the weekend, Insidious definitely had its moment in the spotlight. It makes you wonder if audiences are craving more jump scares or if it was just a perfect Friday night for some frights.
