- What’s Inside: New movie alert!
- A look at a tough subject.
- What we think about it.
Okay, so you know that movie ‘The Birthday Party’ with Willem Dafoe? The one that had that super intense vibe? Well, the filmmaker behind it, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, is working on something new. And it sounds pretty heavy.
His next film is called ‘Hijos del Miedo’. It’s going to tackle racism and how young people get drawn into extreme ideas. Think about the visual aesthetic of something like that – probably stark, maybe a lot of grays and blues, really capturing that feeling of being trapped.
The story is about a young guy named Salva. He’s got a rough job he dislikes and is looking after his family. He also gets pulled into the far-right. It’s a story that feels really relevant right now, sadly.
We love that filmmakers are brave enough to explore these difficult topics. It’s important to have movies that make us think, you know?
Our Take
We think this sounds like a really powerful film in the making. It’s never easy to talk about racism and radicalization, but art can be such a great way to start conversations. We’re definitely keeping an eye on ‘Hijos del Miedo’. Hopefully, it sparks some real understanding.
