We just saw the news, and guess what? That Super Mario Galaxy movie is still absolutely smashing it! Seriously.
It held onto the No. 1 spot at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second weekend. That’s huge!
This past weekend alone, it pulled in another £5.5 million (that’s about $7.5 million for our friends across the Atlantic). Can you believe it?
Its total earnings are now sitting pretty at £28.3 million – nearly $40 million! Wow.
The whole vibe of the movie, with those bright, vibrant colors and all the familiar character designs, really seems to be hitting home. It’s such a visual treat, isn’t it? Like playing a game on the big screen, but with popcorn.
Even ‘Project Hail Mary’, distributed by Sony, tried its best, staying in second place. It added a cool $3.3 million.
But nobody could knock Mario off his throne. Not yet, anyway! He’s really owning the big screen right now.

We think it’s fantastic to see the Super Mario Galaxy Movie doing so well. It just goes to show how much people love this iconic universe. The fun is infectious!
The visuals are simply charming. We’re not surprised it’s a hit. What a journey for Mario and Luigi!
