Seriously, Filming Inside a Whale Was a Wild Ride!

Austin Abrams in a dark, confined space, simulating the inside of a whale.
  • Inside the belly of a whale? Yes, really!
  • Director Brian Duffield’s crazy challenge.
  • Austin Abrams’ epic (and very tight) acting space.
  • Our take on the whole splashy thing!

You won’t believe what we just heard! Turns out, making a movie inside a whale’s stomach is, well, tough. Really tough.

Director Brian Duffield is totally owning up to the huge hurdles he faced while shooting his new film, ‘Whalefall.’ He even sounds gleeful about it! Talk about loving a challenge.

The movie is in theaters now, thanks to 20th Century Studios. The idea is simple: a young diver named Jay, played by Austin Abrams, gets swallowed. By a whale. Just like that.

We can only imagine the sheer visual style they had to create for this. Think dark, squishy, and probably a little terrifying. What a vibe for an actor like Austin to bring to life! The production design must have been wild.

Onlookers were reportedly ‘baffled’ by the whole process. We totally get it. How do you even begin to plan out those scenes? It’s mind-boggling.

Our Take

We absolutely love when filmmakers push the limits. Brian Duffield definitely did that here. It takes a true artist to tackle such a unique idea and make it happen.

We can’t wait to see how they pulled off such a tricky, unique aesthetic. You know we’re grabbing popcorn for this one!
