We just heard the funniest thing about the new Netflix movie, Operation Safed Sagar. It stars Jimmy Shergill and Siddharth. It is all about the Indian Air Force during the Kargil War. But the real pilots had one big request.
They told the directors to stop the slow-mo. Seriously. They actually said they hate seeing pilots walk toward the camera in slow motion. It feels fake to them. They wanted the movie to show what they really do.
We love the aesthetic of this film because it feels so raw. The colors are dusty and the sky looks endless. It does not have that shiny, fake glow of a big music video. It feels grounded. Like real life.
Sometimes we love a bit of sparkle, like when we found out Molly Sims’ skincare secret. But for a war story? Realism is much cooler. The pilots wanted the focus on the planes and the missions. Not on looking like models.
