We just heard some news that’s a bit of a bummer for crime drama fans. Peacock has officially canceled the show ‘M.I.A.’ after its first season. It feels like just yesterday we were hearing all the buzz about its May 7th premiere.
The series, created by Bill Dubuque, dropped all nine episodes at once. You know, the kind of binge-watch we love! There was a good amount of chatter around it, and NBC even gave it a special airing. We were hoping for more!
Miami as the backdrop for a crime drama? That usually gives us a really cool, vibrant aesthetic. Think bright sun, moody shadows, and that salty sea air vibe. It’s a shame we won’t get to see more of that visual style unfold.
We were kind of holding our breath, hoping it would get a second chance. But alas, it seems ‘M.I.A.’ is officially gone.
Our Take
We’re definitely disappointed to see ‘M.I.A.’ go. We love a good crime drama, and the Miami setting promised a lot visually. It’s a tough business, and sometimes good shows just don’t catch on the way we hope they will. We’ll be keeping an eye out for what Bill Dubuque does next, though!
