‘Love on the Spectrum’s Dani Bowman Feels “Totally Disrespected” By R-Slur In ‘Euphoria’, ‘Roast of Kevin Hart’: “This Word Should Be Banned”
- Why Dani Bowman is upset with HBO’s Euphoria
- The problem with the Kevin Hart roast
- Our thoughts on making TV more respectful
We just saw Dani Bowman’s latest message and it really hits home. You probably know her from Love on the Spectrum. She is a total star. Now, she is using her voice to speak up about something important.
The R-word is showing up on TV again. Dani is not having it. She recently saw a scene in Euphoria where Sydney Sweeney’s character, Cassie, uses the slur. It felt sharp and mean. Especially for a show that usually feels so modern.
The vibe of Euphoria is all about neon lights, glitter, and intense moods. But using that word ruined the aesthetic for many viewers. It felt like a step backward. Dani said she feels “totally disrespected” by the choice to include it.
It didn’t stop there. The word also popped up during the Roast of Kevin Hart. Roasts are supposed to be funny and biting. We get that. But Dani says this specific word should be banned forever. It is an ableist slur that hurts real people.
We think Dani is being very brave. It isn’t easy to call out big networks. While we wait for Hollywood to listen, you can check out some other stars. We just posted an Obsession review that shows how to do horror right.
Language changes over time. We should be moving forward, not back. If you need a distraction from the drama, these Lululemon leggings are finally on sale. Or, you can look ahead to Big Brother Season 28 for some fresh faces.
Our Take
We are 100% behind Dani on this one. Using slurs to be “edgy” feels lazy. The visual style of these shows is so beautiful, but the words need to match that beauty. Let’s keep the drama but lose the hate. It is time for TV to grow up.
