Archana Puran Singh talking during an interview about film sets

‘Kanjoos’ production houses give 2 rotis for lunch, ration crew’s food, says Archana Puran Singh

Archana Puran Singh is calling out stingy producers for not feeding their film crews properly.

  • Archana Puran Singh calls out ‘kanjoos’ sets.
  • Why the crew is only getting two rotis.
  • The huge gap between box office hits and lunch boxes.

We just saw a really honest interview with Archana Puran Singh. It wasn’t about her famous laugh. It was about something much more serious. Food. Specifically, the lack of it.

She called some production houses ‘kanjoos’. That is the Hindi word for stingy. She says they are rationing food for the crew. Just two rotis for lunch. Can you believe it? It sounds so outdated. So mean.

It creates a very sad visual. You see a bright, colorful set on screen. But the vibe behind the camera is grey. Cold. Hungry. The aesthetic of the film industry is often a big lie. One side is silver and shiny, the other is just empty plates.

It’s hard to hear this when movies are making so much cash. Look at Dhurandhar 2 making over 1,741 crore. Or even Bhooth Bangla opening with 15.75 crore. There is plenty of money to buy a few extra rotis for the hard workers.

While stars like Reese Witherspoon talk about AI and the high-tech future, people on the ground just want a full plate. It’s a huge contrast. We hope things change soon. Everyone deserves a hot meal.

Our Take

We are honestly shocked. Nobody should work on an empty stomach. Producers need to treat their teams like humans. If you can afford a big star, you can afford a good lunch. It’s really that simple.
