You won’t believe what just hit our news feed! Jakarta Film Week, one of the coolest film festivals around, just announced its amazing opening and closing acts. We are already so hyped!
First up, to kick things off on Oct. 21, is the Singaporean film “Ah Girl.” It’s directed by the talented Ang Geck Geck Priscilla. What a way to start!
Then, to bring the festival to a powerful close on Oct. 25, we have Yosep Anggi Noen’s “The Sea Speaks His Name.” This one is getting its Indonesian premiere. Talk about a grand finale!
The program details dropped on Sept. 23 at a press conference. It was held at CGV Grand Indonesia, with big names there. The whole announcement has such a fresh, almost vibrant aesthetic, with these two strong films bookending the event. We can almost feel the energy, the anticipation, like a perfectly framed painting.
