Guess What? Serville Poblete’s ‘Sunburn’ Just Got Snapped Up!
- A cool new movie from a local director.
- It’s heading to a major film festival.
- Big companies are already fighting over it!
We just found out some amazing news that’s going to make your day, especially if you love local talent!
Our very own award-winning director, Serville Poblete, is making waves. Big waves.
His latest film, ‘Sunburn,’ just got scooped up by MoreThan Films. Yes, that MoreThan Films! They’re an international sales agency, and they clearly see something special here.
This acquisition happened even before its world premiere! ‘Sunburn’ is set to debut as part of the Centrepiece strand at the Toronto International Film Festival. Pretty major, right?
The movie is a hangout comedy. It takes place in St. James Town. We hear it captures the vibrant, everyday aesthetic of the neighborhood so perfectly. You can almost feel the warmth, the community spirit from the title alone.
MoreThan Films will handle all the international buzz. For sales here in the U.S., Julien Levesque from Gersh is on it. So, it’s going global, and it’s getting great attention at home too.
Our Take
We’re just so proud to see a Toronto story get this kind of recognition. It means more people will get to see a slice of our city, brought to life by Serville’s unique vision. We can’t wait to catch ‘Sunburn’ and feel that St. James Town vibe for ourselves!
