You won’t believe what just landed on our desk! Finally, some news about a true film legend. We’re talking about Stanley Kubrick, and guess what? Every single film he ever made is coming out in one amazing collection.
Criterion is doing it! This month, they’re releasing “The Complete Kubrick.” It’s a huge, I mean HUGE, thirty-disc collector’s edition. Thirty discs!
This isn’t just a few movies. This set has all thirteen films directed by Kubrick. Plus, it includes his three early short films. So, his entire body of work, right there.
And here’s the best part for us visual folks: all the titles have brand new 4K restorations. Imagine seeing every detail, every intense color, every iconic shot in a fresh, stunning way. The unique visual vibe of his films will just pop like never before!
This whole incredible process was looked after by veteran archivist Michael Chaiken. He’s the same genius who oversaw last year’s big 4K release. He really knows his stuff.
It’s like seeing an artist’s full journey, from start to finish. It reminds us of other ‘big returns’ and complete stories we love to explore, just like Amit Sana’s own journey back into the spotlight.
Our Take
Wow. Just wow. We’ve been dreaming of something like this for ages. Kubrick’s films are so special, each one a universe in itself. To have them all together, restored in 4K? That’s not just a collection; it’s an event.
This set feels like a museum exhibit in a box. It lets you truly appreciate the scale of his artistry and how his aesthetic evolved. Get ready to clear some shelf space, friends. This is a must-have for any film lover out there.
