  • We’re talking about a Broadway legend.
  • Remember the fun musical ‘Over Here!’?
  • Sad news for the theater world.

We just heard some sad news. Janie Sell, a truly amazing Broadway actor, has passed away. She was 86.

Lots of you might remember her from the musical ‘Over Here!’ back in 1974. It was a super nostalgic show. Janie was a big part of its magic, especially with the Andrews Sisters. She won a Tony Award for her part, and it was so well-deserved. Her performance was pure joy!

Thinking about that show, the whole vibe was so bright and colorful, like a vintage postcard. Janie Sell really captured that happy, energetic aesthetic. It’s a real loss for anyone who loves theater and those classic Broadway sounds.

She passed away on June 9th in New Jersey after a short illness. Friends, like actor James Dybas, shared the news. It’s a somber moment for many in the arts community.

Our Take

We’re always sad to see talented artists leave us. Janie Sell brought so much light and talent to the stage. Her Tony-winning role is a reminder of the joy and connection live theater can bring. We’ll be humming those tunes and remembering her fantastic spirit.
