We just heard some sad news. Chuck Russell, the director behind the super colorful and wild movie ‘The Mask,’ has passed away. He was 74.
This is the guy who really put Jim Carrey on the map. ‘The Mask’ was a huge hit, and it totally made Jim Carrey a global superstar. We can still picture that bright yellow suit and the crazy energy!
And guess what else? He also launched Cameron Diaz’s career. She was pretty much unknown before playing the role of Tina Carlyle in that movie. Talk about a director who knew talent!
Russell’s movies had a really fun vibe, a lot of visual flair. He had a knack for making things pop on screen.
