- NBC orders eight new pilots
- The return of the January to May window
- Why 2026 will feel like a TV revival
Finally, some news about the shows we love. We just saw that NBC is going back in time. But in a good way! They are bringing back the traditional “pilot season” for 2026.
This is a big deal. Since the pandemic, things have been quiet. Now, NBC has ordered eight pilots. That is five dramas and three comedies. It feels like a fresh start.
Sucheta and I love the aesthetic of this move. It has a very classic vibe. It reminds us of the warm glow of old television sets. The style feels like a mix of old school rules and new ideas.
Speaking of great visuals, we are also looking at the teaser for Manuela Martelli’s new film at Cannes. Both the film and these new pilots show that people want real stories again. It is all about the mood.
Will these shows be hits? Only time will tell. We often look at numbers, like the Dacoit box office targets, to see what sticks. TV is a gamble. We are here for it.
Maybe one of these new shows will have a star who wears an engagement ring from Taylor Swift’s favorite designer. We can dream! For now, we are just happy to see more creative work being made.
Our Take
We think this is a smart move. Streaming is fine, but there is something special about a network TV schedule. It feels more human. We hope other channels follow NBC’s lead and bring back the fun of waiting for a premiere.
