Hey everyone! We just saw some absolutely fantastic news coming out of the animation world, and we had to share it with you. You know Upamanyu Bhattacharyya? The super talented guy who wowed us all at Annecy in 2020 with his short film ‘Wade’? Well, he’s back!
His brand new animated feature film, called ‘Heirloom’, is officially going to be a French co-production. That means it’s teaming up with Condor Films in Paris. Imagine the visual possibilities! Plus, it snagged a grant from the CNC. That’s like a special fund for amazing films. This is seriously exciting for Indian animation on the global stage.
‘Heirloom’ sounds like such a vibe. It’s a period family fantasy set in Ahmedabad way back in 1960. We’re already picturing the colors, the atmosphere, the whole aesthetic of that era brought to life. This is Upamanyu’s first feature film, and after seeing the magic he created with ‘Wade’, we have such high hopes.
It’s amazing to see Indian artists getting this kind of international backing. It shows that creativity from our side is being recognized and supported. This kind of collaboration can only lead to more incredible stories being told.
Our Take
Honestly? This is huge! We’re so thrilled to see Indian animation talent getting this kind of international spotlight and support. It feels like a big step forward, and we can’t wait to see ‘Heirloom’ come to life. Go Upamanyu!
