Woody and Buzz Just Broke a Record and We Are So Here For It

  • Toy Story 5 is smashing franchise records already.
  • Early Thursday numbers are hitting $13M-$14M.
  • Why we still love that classic Pixar look.

We just saw the early box office numbers for Toy Story 5 and our jaws dropped. It looks like everyone ran to the theaters on Thursday night. People really missed their favorite toys!

The movie is on track to make between $13 million and $14 million just from previews. That is a massive deal. It beats the record set by Toy Story 4 back in 2019. Records. Broken. Just like that.

As art lovers, we have to talk about the vibe of these films. The Pixar aesthetic is just so warm and comforting. Those bright primary colors and soft textures always make us feel like we are back in Andy’s room. It is a visual hug.

If you need something a bit more intense after a family movie, check out Dhanush and Mammootty in their new project. Or, if you want something serious, this anti-war movie is making waves right now.

Our Take

We think this success shows that nostalgia is powerful. Life is fast and sometimes a bit much. Seeing Woody and Buzz again feels safe and happy. It reminds us of why we love stories in the first place.

It’s also a good reminder that creators deserve their credit. We recently wrote about how the real voice of Josie and the Pussycats is still fighting for her paycheck. Let’s hope the Toy Story team is getting all the love they deserve for this win!
