The Media Access Awards Just Got a Cool New Name: Meet The Darcys!
- A Fresh Start for Film Awards!
- Who’s Behind the New Look?
- Why “The Darcys”?
- Our Take on the Vibe!
You won’t believe what we just heard! The Media Access Awards, you know, the ones celebrating amazing disability representation in movies and TV? They’ve gotten a total makeover!
Yep, a big change. They’re officially called The Easterseals Disability Arts & Culture Awards now. Or, get this, ‘The Darcys’ for short. So chic!
This whole fantastic initiative is spearheaded by Easterseals Disability Services. And guess what? Leaders from the disability community are right there too. Film Independent is even co-producing!
These awards are all about honoring authentic stories. They celebrate truly great filmmaking that shows disability in a real way. It’s so important.
Back in 1979, the legendary Norman Lear started it all. Can you imagine? What a vision! Now, it’s getting a fresh coat of paint.
We’re loving the new vibe. ‘The Darcys’ just sounds… elevated, right? It feels classic yet super modern. A clean, strong aesthetic for a powerful message.
Our Take
We think this rebrand is absolutely brilliant. It’s more than just a name change. It shines a brighter spotlight on disability arts and culture. That’s a huge win!
It’s about making sure these stories are seen. And celebrated! We can’t wait to see who wins a Darcy next.
