‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Director Joe Russo Says Spoilers Are ‘Over-Policed’: ‘People Are Anxious About Engaging With Anything’
- Joe Russo’s big spoiler thoughts.
- Why everyone’s anxious about movie news.
- Our take on the whole spoiler debate.
We just heard something from Joe Russo that made us totally nod our heads. You know, one half of the awesome directing duo behind “Avengers: Doomsday”? Yeah, that Joe Russo.
He told Metro that he thinks spoilers are being way, way “over-policed” online. Seriously. It’s like we’re all walking on eggshells around new movies.
He feels it’s gotten to the point where fans are actually scared to even look at material about a film before it comes out. No trailers, no behind-the-scenes peeks, nothing! It mutes the whole visual feast leading up to a film’s release. The vibrant anticipation just fades to grey.
On one hand, totally. We all love a good surprise! That ‘aha!’ moment in the cinema? Pure magic. It’s part of the cinematic experience.
But then, is this fear stopping us from having those cool chats about what might happen? Or getting hyped up by the cool posters and teasers? It’s a tricky balance, right?
It makes you wonder, right? What’s the line between a spoiler and something just getting out there, like that leaked video of Ranveer, Deepika, and Shah Rukh? Sometimes, things just happen.
This reminds us a bit of how some things become public, sometimes even more personal, like when Kris Jenner had her surgery videotaped. Everyone has their own comfort level with what they share or see, but when it’s forced? That’s different.
We also saw Eric Kripke respond to ‘The Boys’ fan complaints, saying sometimes you’re “just watching the wrong show.” Check that out here! It feels like creators are dealing with a lot of fan expectations these days.
Our Take
Here at BuzzMedia, we totally get what Joe Russo is saying. Surprises are awesome. We love them. But shared excitement? That’s also part of the fun!
Living in constant fear of a spoiler can take away from the whole movie-watching journey. Engage! Discuss! Just be mindful not to ruin it for others who aren’t ready.
Maybe it’s about finding a middle ground. Enjoy the mystery, yes. But don’t let the spoiler police stop you from enjoying the conversation too. It’s all part of the big picture.
