  • Where and when it’s happening
  • Which films he’ll show
  • Our thoughts on it all

We just heard some super exciting news! Darren Aronofsky, the director behind those intense movies like Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan, is going to be honored. Like, really honored. The Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland is giving him their Honorary Leopard Award.

This festival is a big deal for independent films. It’s happening on August 14th. Imagine this: an 8,000-seat piazza under the stars. That’s where he’ll get his award. Sounds pretty epic, right?

But wait, there’s more! He’s not just showing up for the award. He’s also going to screen two of his own films: The Fountain from 2006 and Mother! from 2017. We can totally see the moody, atmospheric visuals of those films fitting perfectly in a big outdoor setting.

He’ll even chat with everyone on stage. We love when artists share their process. It’s like getting a peek behind the curtain, seeing how their creative brains work.

Our Take

Getting recognized by a festival that champions indie cinema feels totally right for him. It’s a great celebration of his distinctive style and storytelling.
