Zeze Takahisa Takes Us From ‘Pink’ Films to ‘Sukiyaki’ at Tokyo Masterclass!
- We go behind the scenes at a packed Tokyo film festival event.
- Director Zeze Takahisa opens up about his journey.
- From early ‘pink’ movies to his latest hit!
You won’t believe what we just heard! Director Zeze Takahisa, the brilliant mind behind the Tokyo International Film Festival’s opening film, ‘Sukiyaki,’ held a special masterclass. The room was absolutely full. People packed into Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, eager to hear his story.
Zeze took everyone on a real journey. He talked about his early days. Specifically, his ‘pink’ films. Yes, we’re talking softcore porn. Then, his indie movies too. It was a bold, honest look at where he started.
It’s fascinating to see how a filmmaker’s visual style can shift. From the raw, almost DIY aesthetic of those early works to the polished, powerful vibe of ‘Sukiyaki.’ What a transformation!
He then answered questions about his recent films. It’s clear he’s passionate about championing original stories. That’s a message we can totally get behind at BuzzMedia Times.
This reminds us of how diverse filmmakers’ paths can be. Just like Teodora Ana Mihai, whose ‘Heysel 85’ also hit Tokyo, and we’re excited for her next big thing!
He was born in 1960, all the way in Oita. Think of all the stories he’s seen and told since then. It’s truly inspiring to see an artist embrace their entire body of work.
It makes you reflect on the unique journey of every creative person. We recently remembered filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, known for ‘Kaante,’ who sadly passed away. Each artist leaves a distinct mark.
Sometimes, it’s about staying true to yourself, even as traditions change around you. Like how Debina Bonnerjee says some traditions with Gurmeet are non-negotiable.
Our Take
We think Zeze Takahisa’s openness is super refreshing. It shows that every part of an artist’s journey helps shape who they become. No matter where you start, originality and passion can take you anywhere. We love that kind of honest storytelling!
