  • Director Kore-eda’s exciting news!
  • What went down at the Kering Women in Motion event.
  • Why Japanese films are making waves globally.

We just heard some super exciting news straight from Tokyo! Imagine a packed cinema, everyone buzzing. That’s the scene at Toho Cinemas Roppongi Hills this past Tuesday.

Kering Women in Motion, a cool event tied to the Tokyo International Film Festival, brought some big names together. Director Kore-eda Hirokazu, known for amazing films like “Shoplifters,” kicked things off.

And guess what he said? He’s been hearing at film festivals worldwide that “Japanese films are really interesting!” Yes! It’s true. The vibe is definitely shifting, with more eyes turning to the unique storytelling coming from Japan.

This is a huge moment. It feels like Japanese cinema is finally getting the global recognition it deserves. Just like how a local baseball documentary can take 12 years to hit home, some great stories take time to get noticed worldwide! Check out this amazing baseball doc story.

Lots of cool people were on stage too. Ninomiya Kazunari was there. So was Amy Homma from the Academy. And Murata Chieko, the producer behind ‘Kokuho’. What a lineup!

It’s awesome to see such talent gathered to celebrate. It makes us think about all the different stories being told, from big movie events to real talk about mom guilt. Divyanka Tripathi recently shared her feelings about that with Gauahar Khan, and it hits different! Read all about it here.

Our Take

We at BuzzMedia are just thrilled to hear this. Japanese films have such a distinct aesthetic and often tell deep, emotional stories. It’s about time the world paid closer attention! This feels like a fresh, bright new chapter for cinema lovers everywhere.
