We just saw some amazing news from Rio! The Rio Film Festival just wrapped up. And guess what? Enock Carvalho and Matheus Farias’ film, “The Riverbank,” totally crushed it. It won Best Fiction Feature Film. Huge!

This movie, which already grabbed an award at Locarno, is set in Recife. It follows a young… well, we can only imagine the visuals! It sounds like a deeply personal story. Maybe a quiet, earthy aesthetic that really draws you in.

Then there’s Eryk Rocha’s “Elza.” This one took home Best Documentary Feature. Big applause for that! These awards were handed out tonight. Right there at Rio de Janeiro’s super famous Odeon cinema. Imagine the scene!

The historic building, the lights, the excitement. What a vibe. It must have been a truly special evening for everyone involved. A real celebration of cinema.

Other films also scooped up some big wins. “On Behalf of My Son” got a prize. So did “The French Teacher.” And, yes, a film simply called “London” also won big. Speaking of London, did you hear about Sacha Baron Cohen landing a huge role in Tarantino’s new play there? You gotta check out that story!
