Remember Rupert Mannion? Ted Lasso’s Team Wanted Him Back!
- What’s Inside
- A sweet idea for Season 4
- A little bit of sadness
- Our thoughts on the show
We just stumbled upon some news about Ted Lasso that made us go “awww.” You know Rupert Mannion, right? The guy played by the brilliant Anthony Head? He was quite the character on the show, a real villain in that handsome way.
Turns out, the folks behind Ted Lasso really wanted to bring him back for the Season 4 finale. Imagine that! It would have been a big moment.
Sadly, as we all know, Anthony Head passed away. The show did pay tribute to him, and it was heartfelt. They put up an “In Memoriam” card, which was a beautiful touch, especially with the show’s signature optimistic vibe. Seeing that sort of thing always hits a little differently.
Co-creator Brendan Hunt mentioned this desire to have Rupert back. It just shows how much they loved working with him and how much they thought of his character.
It makes you wonder what could have been. How would they have written Rupert back in? What kind of scenes would have played out?
Our Take
We think it’s so touching that the Ted Lasso team wanted to honor Anthony Head in such a big way. It speaks volumes about the relationships on set and the love for the character, even a naughty one like Rupert. It’s a reminder that even in fictional worlds, the real-life connections are what matter most.
