You guys. We just saw some news that gave us goosebumps, the good kind! The QueerFrames Screenwriting Lab, which is this incredible space for emerging queer, trans, and nonbinary filmmakers, is blowing up in the best way possible.
Ready for it? It’s expanding! Its fourth year is going global. We’re talking storytellers from India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and the diaspora all coming together. So much talent, so many voices!
And the mentors? Seriously. Isabel Sandoval is joining the lineup. Tricia Tuttle too. Plus, Anup Poudel, the producer behind ‘Elephants in the Fog.’ What a lineup! Imagine learning from these legends.
The vibe? It’s all about fresh perspectives. Bright, bold storytelling. We can totally picture the amazing, rich visual tapestry these new projects will create. Eight fiction feature projects are in the new 2026 cohort. And get this: queerness isn’t just a side note. It’s woven right into the heart of every single story.
This isn’t just a lab. It’s a movement. We are SO here for it. Giving these amazing storytellers a platform? Yes, please!
Our Take
Honestly? We are absolutely thrilled. This expansion means more diverse stories get told, seen, and celebrated. It means more people get to connect with characters and experiences that reflect the real, beautiful world we live in. We love seeing initiatives like this grow. It just feels right. It feels like the future of film, and it’s vibrant!
