You won’t believe it, but we just got the coolest news from the Pingyao International Film Festival! They’re hitting their big 10th anniversary this year. Ten years! Can you imagine?

And for such a milestone, they’re kicking things off with a true cinematic treat. The opening film is a stunning 4K restoration of Fei Mu’s ‘Spring In A Small Town’. Talk about a classic coming back to life. We’re picturing the beautiful, deep colors of this film, just popping on the big screen. What an aesthetic!

The festival runs for a bit, then wraps up with a film called ‘Good Trip’. This one’s from Hong Kong, co-directed by Norris Wong and Hoi Wong. Sounds like a fresh take after a classic start.

Oh, and get this! Jia Zhangke, one of the brilliant minds who co-founded the festival, has a new short film in the mix. It’s called ‘Torino Shadow’. Pretty neat, right? The man behind the festival is still creating.

Our Take

This 10th edition of PYIFF feels special, doesn’t it? It’s a real nod to cinema history, bringing back a classic in such a gorgeous way. But also, it pushes forward with new voices. We love that balance. It shows respect for where film has been and excitement for where it’s going. A total visual feast, we bet!
