Google’s AI Short Films? We Were Totally Hooked!

People watching a movie screen showing colorful, AI-generated images.
  • Our wild popcorn adventure.
  • What Google showed us about AI art.
  • The surprising vibe of new AI movies.
  • Why artists might jump on board (or not!).

You won’t believe what we did last month! We totally binged on popcorn at a movie screening. But this wasn’t just any movie. Google showed off 11 short films. All made with AI!

We were at the cool Metrograph theater in Manhattan. About 15 minutes in, our popcorn was GONE. The bag was small, yes. But the movies just pulled us right in. We couldn’t stop munching!

The vibe of these films was so unique. Think unexpected colors meeting cool, dream-like scenes. It was a fresh aesthetic, like art school met a super smart computer. Every short had its own special look. Some felt glitchy and experimental. Others, surprisingly smooth and polished. It really got us thinking about what’s next for artists.

It felt a bit like a new world was opening up. Kind of how something unexpected can really shake things up, but in a good way for creativity! Google clearly wants artists to get excited about these new tools. It makes you wonder if future directors will be like Vidhatri Bandi, who knew exactly what role she wanted, but for AI filmmaking. They’re making a big push.

Maybe it’s their way of saying, “Hey, this isn’t just for tech gurus!” We hope artists will feel empowered, not pushed aside. After all, standing up for your art is important, much like Georgina Rodríguez told body shamers where to go. This new tech could open up so many ways for people to express themselves.

Our Take

These AI films are definitely something to see. Google is trying hard to make AI a friend to artists, not a threat. We think it’s a huge step. Imagine the stories that can be told now. With new tools, come new kinds of art. It’s exciting. And a little bit wild! What do you think?
