You won’t believe the news we just woke up to. Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon, the incredible early rock & roller, has passed away.
He was 89. A true legend of feel-good music.
Freddy left us yesterday, July 17th. He was at a hospice in California. He had a brief battle with cancer. Such sad news, isn’t it?
His music had this amazing, joyful vibe. Think about his song ‘Palisades Park.’ The visual it creates is just awesome – roller coasters, bright lights, summer fun. All those lively, happy colors!
He gave us some big, unforgettable radio hits. Like ‘Tallahassee Lassie’ from 1959. And then that absolute classic, ‘Palisades Park,’ in 1962. Pure energy. Pure fun.
His longtime friend, Tom Cuddy, shared the news. Tom is also from iHeart. It’s always tough to say goodbye to someone who brought so much happiness.
