Evil Dead Burn: Say Goodbye to Laughs, Hello to Family Demons!
- A new look for Evil Dead?
- Family drama meets serious gore.
- Our honest take on the scares.
You won’t believe what we just screened! The latest ‘Evil Dead’ movie, titled ‘Evil Dead Burn’, is here. And it’s… different.
This is the sixth time we’ve seen the series overall. It’s also the third movie since they rebooted things in 2013. But ditch what you thought you knew about the ‘Evil Dead’ vibe. The gonzo comedy? Gone.
What we get instead is a stand-alone story. Deep. Dark. It digs into family fights and literal family demons. It’s a drama, really.
Imagine a serious play, like something Eugene O’Neill would write. Now, picture that play getting a total makeover by Herschell Gordon Lewis, the king of splatter. That’s the visual aesthetic. It’s intense. Gross. A total guignol.
But here’s the kicker. On its own terms, it works. It’s an effective piece of… well, gross-out guignol. Not for the faint of heart!
Our Take
We think this movie takes the franchise in a bold new direction. It sacrifices the laughs. For sure. But it gains some serious, unsettling drama. The gore is front and center. It’s a visceral experience. So, if you’re ready for a movie that goes all-in on shocking visuals and a heavy story, ‘Evil Dead Burn’ might just be your next watch.
